JMP Financial Information

Enrolling in medical and graduate school is an expensive endeavor and the JMP is committed to the financial well-being of our students.

Registration fees for the UCB-UCSF Joint Medical Program may be viewed on the UC Berkeley Office of the Registrar’s fee schedule.

Please note that as indicated on the fee schedule, JMP students are assessed a Professional Degree Fee (an annual amount charged equally to all UC medical students) in the second and third year in the Berkeley Program, and in the remaining two years at UCSF.

*All fees and nonresident tuition are set by the UC Regents and are subject to change without notice.

Estimating Student Budgets

The Financial Aid Office for the Berkeley campus offers an estimated student budget to account for changes in the cost of living, fees, and tuition. The figures are revised every spring, and show the average costs for a Joint Medical Program graduate/medical student during the nine-month academic year.

Note that the JMP is a 12-month program in the first year, as our students enroll full-time in the eight-week Summer Session, take Anatomy with a Radiology correlate, and enroll in the Master’s Research Seminar. Thus first-year budgets should factor in an additional two to three months of living expenses as well as summer session fees.
