
Lethal in Disguise: The Real Impacts of Crowd Control Weapons and the Global Fight to Protect the Right to Protest

Join PHR and INCLO as we launch our new report LETHAL IN DISGUISE 2: How Crowd-Control Weapons Impact Health and Human Rights and platform documenting the impacts CCWs have on protesters all over the world.
Washington Post journalist Shibani Mahtani will lead a conversation with Rohini Haar, UC Berkeley Faculty and lead author of the report, as well as the human rights activist Fatia Maulidiyanti (KontraS, Indonesia), researcher and activist Alejandro Rodríguez (Temblores – Colombia), Verity Coyle (Amnesty International) and attorney Anne Suciu (ACRI – Israel).The discussion will touch on the report’s rigorous documentation of injuries and deaths of protestors due to CCWs, some of the 16 case studies from 13 countries included, and the analysis that grounds the project’s recommendations to ensure both the health and lives of demonstrators and the rights of assembly, association and free expression are protected.
The event will be held in English with Spanish simultaneous translation and there will be 30 mins of Q&A.
