Health Care Policy in East Asia: A World Scientific Reference Book Launch

On December 5th, we hosted a dynamic discussion and launch of an important new publication, Health Care Policy in East Asia: A World Scientific Reference, released under the editorial leadership of our own Professor Emeritus Teh-wei Hu.

Health Care Policy in East Asia is a four-volume publication designed to help health care professionals, academics, policymakers and general readers understand the background and latest developments in the health care systems of China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. Each volume has been edited by a leading scholar who has been deeply involved in the development of the health care system in that particular region. The collection brings to life how evidence-based policy research can be implemented into policy and practice.

The event featured Chi-Man (Winnie) Yip, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health Professor and Director of the China Health Partnership. She then joined a panel discussion with health policy experts Berkeley Public Health Dean Michael Lu; Berkeley Public Health Professor William Dow; and Berkeley Public Health Professor Stephen Shortell. The panel discussed the health systems and pressing policy issues facing China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, and it is moderated by Berkeley Public Health Professor Richard Scheffler. Professor Teh-wei Hu makes concluding remarks.
