Health vs Havoc: A discussion of nutrition sanity and unapologetic deliciousness

On November 12, Berkeley Public Health celebrated 35 years of The Wellness Letter with a Dean’s Speaker Series featuring Stanford Professor Christopher Gardner. The celebration began with an overview of The Wellness Letter’s history and the recent evolution of our Health and Wellness Publications. Launched in 1984, The Wellness Letter has been driven by a goal of providing evidence-based and rigorously vetted health and wellness tips to the public.

In a talk entitled Health Vs. Havoc, Gardner, who earned his PhD from Berkeley Public Health in nutrition science in 1993, discussed the recent attacks on nutrition science, the wealth of available evidence on optimal food and health, the important role The Wellness Letter has played in debunking health myths and informing the public, and his view on how to move forward from here.
