Caricia Catalani is a designer and research scientist, focusing on radical, participatory, and beautiful ways to improve health.

Caricia Catalani is a designer and research scientist, focusing on radical, participatory, and beautiful ways to improve health. Using a human-centered design approach, she has worked on over 100 health projects in 28 countries. She has built a better immigrant patient experience in Brooklyn hospitals, a sex workers union in the Dominican Republic, a digital service for tuberculosis care across Kenya, a national health information platform to help doctors to provide better care to mothers living with HIV in Rwanda, an innovation lab in Cambodia, a mobile clinic for underserved communities in Compton, a modern sex ed program for public schools, several pregnancy prevention digital experiences, and more.

She is Director of the Design for Health Studio at IDEO, lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley, and author of a dozen academic and non-academic articles about design and innovation in health.
