Maria Ekstrand is Associate Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology at UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health. Her research includes primary and secondary HIV prevention with a focus on India. This includes the role of alcohol in sexual risk among vulnerable populations, gender issues, factors involved in the acquisition and maintenance of behavior change, the role of AIDS stigma in HIV prevention, adherence to antiretroviral therapy and the development of drug resistance.
