At the UC Berkeley School of Public Health, we believe that everyone, everywhere, has the right to a healthy life. UC Berkeley’s School of Public Health was the first school of its kind west of the Mississippi. Today, with more than 18,500 alumni, it is a leading institution in public health education and research—consistently ranked among the nation’s top 10 schools of public health. Our mission is to improve population health, especially for the most vulnerable, through radical collaborations, preeminent education, and transformational research on the major public health threats and opportunities of today and tomorrow.

Our distinguished legacy on a campus with a strong commitment to social justice provides a unique position from which to lead change, and the faculty, students, and alumni have been defending health as a human right in our local and global communities for over 75 years.

Help us to train the next generation of public health changemakers

Each year, more than 400 undergraduates and 700 graduate students attend 250 courses at the School of Public Health. Financial support for students will help ensure that the School can train the next generation of diverse and committed public health professionals, in and out of the classroom.

Berkeley faculty are not only preeminent researchers who make pioneering contributions to the field, they are also great teachers and mentors, passing the baton to future scholars, practitioners, and agents of change. Support for our faculty enables us to bring practice into the classroom by hiring and retaining outstanding lecturers and professors.

Help us to research to solve local and global public health problems

We develop and apply innovative methods to solve the biggest public health challenges. We collaborate with individuals and communities, industry, and policymakers—and we benefit from access to UC Berkeley partners. Our areas of research focus include climate change, pandemic threats, chronic diseases and social inequality.

Ways To Give

  • Make a gift online

    You can make a gift to support our school in general or to a more specific fund that is most meaningful to you at give.berkeley.edu/publichealth. For example, our Changemaker Fund helps equip students with the skills to solve society’s most critical threats to health and equity. You can also search for other giving opportunities by fund name or number, keyword, or school, college, or department.

    When making a gift, consider selecting a recurring monthly, quarterly, or annual payment. Let us know if your gift is in memory or in honor of someone special to you.

  • Join our Dean’s Circle

    Make a gift of $1,000 or more to become a member of our Dean’s Circle and receive benefits such as invitations to special events hosted by the Dean, and more!

  • Leave a legacy at Berkeley Way

    Gifts of $75,000 or more will be recognized with the opportunity to name a room in honor of yourself or a loved one in our building on Berkeley Way. Payments towards your gift can be made over a time period of up to 5 years (e.g. $15K per year for 5 years).

  • Mail a check

  • Make a planned gift

    Your legacy gift may enable you to provide more significant support than you thought possible while at the same time allowing you to achieve your financial, philanthropic, and estate planning goals.

  • Make a gift of securities

    We encourage donors to transfer gifts of publicly-traded securities to one of the UC Berkeley Foundation’s brokerage accounts by completing and submitting one of the transfer forms below.

    Our primary and preferred brokerage account is with Morgan Stanley, and is appropriate for most gifts of securities. All transfers of mutual funds must be sent to our Morgan Stanley account. If you intend on transferring mutual funds, always contact us at (510) 642-6791 immediately as certain steps must be taken before the transfer is initiated.

    The UC Berkeley Foundation also has a brokerage account with Charles Schwab, primarily for our donors who have Schwab accounts. Download the Charles Schwab securities transfer form here.

    When you have filled out a transfer form, please (1) provide a copy to your broker and (2) email a copy to us at givesecurities@berkeley.edu. We cannot sell securities without first identifying the donor.
