In July 2024, Berkeley Public Health welcomed assistant professor of biostatistics Xiudi Li, PhD. Dr. Li received a PhD in biostatistics from the University of Washington in 2022 and a BSc in mathematics and economics from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2017.
Berkeley Public Health: Where did you live and work before joining the UC Berkeley School of Public Health?
Xiudi Li: I previously lived in Seattle and Boston. (Li was previously a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Biostatistics at Harvard University. He received the Thomas R. Fleming Excellence in Biostatistics Award and the Donovan J. Thompson Award during his doctoral study at UW.)
BPH: What are you currently working on?
XL: I am currently working on methods on integrating data from multiple sources and applied projects using electronic health record data. (Li previously led collaborative research projects on early cancer detection and COVID-19 studies using electronic health records.)
BPH: What are your hopes for starting your new position at Berkeley Public Health?
XL: I hope to do cool research, collaborate with wonderful researchers here, be a good teacher, and enjoy the Bay Area!
