Professor Kirk Smith is one of 3 recipients of the 2014 Haagen-Smit Clean Air Award. He has been recognized as a key contributor toward air quality research and science.

Since 2001, the California Air Resources Board has annually bestowed these distinguished awards upon extraordinary individuals and international leaders to recognize significant career accomplishments in at least one of these air quality and climate change categories: research, environmental policy, science and technology, public education, and community service.
