The UC Berkeley School of Public Health has once again excelled in school rankings released today by U.S. News & World Report, placing it No. 10 out of 213 eligible schools and programs of public health in the U.S.
The rankings are based solely on the results of peer assessment surveys sent to deans, other administrators, and/or faculty at accredited degree programs or schools. The 2024 survey response rate was 43.7%. For more on the rankings methodology, visit this U.S. News page.
For the second year, U.S. News ranked five master’s level specialties. For these specialty rankings, public health schools’ deans and other academics were asked to nominate up to 15 programs noted for their excellence in each specialty area, according to a press release from U.S. News. To be included on these lists, a program must have received a minimum of seven nominations.
Berkeley Public Health’s programs ranked in the top 10 across the board:
- No. 4 Environmental Health Sciences
- No. 9 Social and Behavioral Sciences (tracks to Community Health Sciences)
- No. 9 Health Policy & Management
- No. 10 Biostatistics
- No. 10 Epidemiology
“Year after year, our consistent top-ten ranking reflects an enduring national recognition of our collective excellence,” said UC Berkeley School of Public Health Dean Michael C. Lu. “But the story of our true greatness is told not by the height of our ranking or the size of our endowment, but ultimately by our impact—the difference we make in the world through the research we do, the students we educate, and the societal change we help bring about. That’s the prize we are keeping our eyes on.”
Congratulations and thank you to all our faculty, students, researchers, and staff who collaborate everyday to make Berkeley Public Health an exceptional institution.
