Death Toll from California Wildfires Expected to Rise

MedPageToday: The wildfires still ravaging Northern California had claimed the lives of at least 17 people as of Wednesday, and hundreds more were reportedly hospitalized with burns and respiratory issues related to smoke inhalation.

The death toll was expected to rise, with more than 500 people reported missing Wednesday morning in Sonoma County alone, according to a spokesperson for the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office. Professor John Balmes is quoted.
