Innovative new test detects antibiotic-resistant bacteria in minutes

Researchers at the School of Public Health and the College of Engineering created a test that can diagnose patients with antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections within minutes.

School of Public Health Professor Dr. Lee Riley who was part of this project explains why it is significant: “Drug-resistant infections are a silent pandemic that actually kill more people every year than Zika or Ebola. The faster you can start the right drug, the better the chances of survival or avoiding complications.”
