When news undermines the public’s health

School of Public Health Professor Lori Dorfman gave a lecture at the University of Washington on how the media can hurt public wellbeing and what can be done to fix it. The lecture was covered by UW’s The Daily.

“Our behavior matters and what we learn about keeping our health good matters, but it’s simply not sufficient when we’re in an environment that undermines our health,” Dorfman said. “Nobody is a clean slate; you all walked in here with who you are, with who’ve you become, with the things that you know, and that you learned and that you experienced.”
